Is an 86 bi wing delete a vary big deal, as far as rarity is concerned?

Re: Rarity?
To counter that one, the last SVO built has an upper.Originally posted by kiwi
My understanding is that the 'upper' supplies did not last thru the end of the SVO run....so the LX wing was subbed....
poolbuilder - it's something like 200 bi-wing deletes were built (in 1986 only). One idea of the reasoning behind it was a lull in the vendor supplying the SVO specific wings - so instead of halting production, LX wings were used. BUT - it was also an option to delete it. Believe the rumors - the hype - whatever - a Bi-wing delete is pretty rare.

My 86 is a delete car though about a year ago I found an 84 hatch with a 3rd brake light and dual wing, it was even the right color. Since I am hopefully getting it painted soon I am not sure which way to go. I like having it but without most people think it is just a GT. Maybe get both hatches painted.....Hmmmm86 2A Bi-wing delete

Re: Re: Rarity?
There were a lot of bi-wing delete cars built around the same vin # as my car and I have even found several consecutively numbered cars including my vin # that are bi-wing deletes. My car was built on 12-9-85. I presume that during this time (due to the consecutive vin #'s) Ford had a hard time with the bi-wings. There are A LOT of cars around the 180000's that are bi-wing delete cars.Originally posted by svobud

Since the intrigue of bi-wing cars got me aroused, I have been documenting every one I come across. I have documented vin #'s from 127903 to 209322 that are bi-wing delete cars. The vin seperation represents a good span of time, which again should preclude that the cars came this way due just to bi-wing procurement problems.
The facts that are present concede 295 bi-wing cars were built.
My intrigue continues and the more bi-wing delete cars I can document, the more concise info I will have. Keep posting your vin #'s in the registry, and if you have a bi-wing delete car, feel free to contact me.

bi wing delete
hey ya'll. i have contacted the original owner of my '86. he has a picture of it as a bi wing delete and states that it was when he bought it off the dealers lot. he then installed a bi wing set up from ford. when he took off the gt wing off the deck was primer under it. the original wing was the color of the car. medium canyon red.
also he has a 999 report that does not mention it as a biwing delete and neither does my 999 report. there is no evidence of any accident.

I've got your car's vin noted - I'm guessing that it was built sometime in January 1986. The only way that might help decode a Bi-wing delete car is the buck tag under the hood. I do not know what all the letters and numbers mean, but here's my tag and maybe you and others can do some comparisons. Keep me informed!
Thanks,
