Well chalky had a close call a moment ago. Scott had just done some touch up paint on the front bumper, and then the yard sprinklers turned on. All I hear is, "NELSON stand on the sprinkler!"

Yeah we still need time to finish more beer & Margaritas while watching Chalky & Scott paint. The pics will come in the morning.

    Now...

    10/03
1200- Finally hit the road for Ogden UT.

After about 4 hours of nice weather in OR, the crap began. It rained, snowed, rained, & snowed some more through ID & UT

    2130 - We made a stop into a Wendy's in Boise, ID.
2230 - While passing through Twin Falls (129 miles from Wendy's) Ivan The Irritable realized he didn't have his wallet. FU%^, SH&^, GODD#$#$, WE GOTTA GO BACK TO BOISE!
Chris The Cranky & Ivan The Irritable turned around to retrieve the wallet from Wendy's & crash in Boise for the night. Luckily they were able to call the manager & have him hold the wallet for them to pick it up. Unluckily the rain began to piss down & the West bound lanes were under construction. Chris learned a little about hydroplaining & still made it back to Wendy's at 0105.
0020 - After driving for 20 miles with the low fuel light on in the truck we found an exit in Malta to stop for gas. The gas station was over 7 miles away. We barely made it neutral coasting & pulled into the closed gas station. We filled the 26 gal tank with 27.659 gal & then hit the road again for Ogden.
0300 - Arrived at Towne Place Suites in Layton, UT for the night. Chris & Ivan called after they checked into the Motel 6 in Boise.

    10/04

    1000 - Pat calls & I hang up
1001 - Ivan calls to tell me they are in white out snow conditions & barely able to drive 50mph. Expected arrival to Hill AFB museum was 1300.
1315 - Chalks called as they arrived to the museum after snow plowing through ID.
1430 - Left UT bound for Denver.
WYOMING SUCKS!! More snow, more rain, more road construction, more rain, more snow....

What on earth made sense about going through Wyoming??? With the possible exception of July and August, you can get snow year round on I-80. I know, I grew up there. In 1974, we got snow on the fourth of July. Elk Mountain - about an hour west of Laramie on I-80 - can get snow at any time of the year. I got caught on I-80 by Elk Mountain years ago in June, and with the wind it was a total whiteout, couldn't see the road in front of the truck.

If you were in SLC, next time take I-15 South to I-70 East. They can get snow on I-70 nine months a year, but the road crews in Colorado are 100 times better in keeping it safe, and there is a lot less wind. Might add two hours to your drive, but well worth it. And unlike Wyoming which has only different colors of dirt, Colorado has trees and stuff to look at along the way. I would definitely come back that way...

Tony's car is loaded & the garage cleaned up. 0630 we roll on out for Louisville to meet the Schmits & pick up a couple SVOs.

We should hit the hotel by midnight, & there had better be beer ready & waiting...

On I-44, Mile Markers 179 to 184 has construction, a divided 2 lane becomes a single 2 way. It took me 40 minutes to do that 5 mile stretch.

I'm about 40 miles west of SL, MO with no blow-up doll.

I'd just like to point out that the shady looking person in the blue jumpsuit with both hands in his pockets is not me.
