Then finally bolted on the pan and started preping for paint:

Here is a shot of the deck, nice and clean piston tops

Now on to painting the block and then adding the brackets, etc.

    That's all for now folks....

Short block is painted (went with Ford Gray this time instead of black):

I won't do too much more assembly to the short block until I get it out of the basement and back in the garage.

Next I need to deal with this mess :

The first time I rebuilt the engine, I was in a hurry to get the car running again so I only cleaned up the engine bay. This time I'll be cleaning and laying down a fresh coat of black Centari enamel paint. Stay tuned for more

Thanks guys. Yes, the gray looks better than the black that the machine shop sprayed on the first re-build. Especially with a black engine compartment....

I'm getting close to having the engine bay ready for paint. A few more hours and then I will be able to start masking it off

Going to paint the cowl as well:

Too cold out in the garage to work any longer tonight (and the heater is out of petrol).

Thanks guys! It's just too damm cold out to work on the engine bay. Here are a few shots of the engine. First - I cleaned and painted the head:

Notice the nice VC that I bought off GGG at last summer's Carlisle:

And since I was taking pics, here are the internals (complete with new cam bearings as previously mentioned):

Added a few brackets/mounts to the short block (notice this time that I didn't go with a Napa Gold filter ) :

That's all for now. I'll keep plugging away at it and it'll be re-assembled and running for spring.

Thanks!! It was very easy. I simply attended Carlisle All Ford Nationals last June, plunked down some $$$ and walked away with the valve cover

In all seriousness, drop Gator a PM, I bought it from him and I assume he did the paint/polish work....

    Almost ready to paint!!!

    All cleaned:

Masked and ready for primer / paint:

When you plan on shooting Enamel paint, be sure to cover anything you don't want over spray on. Poly sheets work well for large areas:

Right on! Makes me chomp at the bit to get mine here and get workin' on it. Gonna be real soon. The monsoons have washed away the damn salt and crap the last few days.

Yep, I'm getting anxious to get this car back on the road.... We still have snow in the yard, but the rain this weekend has helped to clean some of the crap off the roads.
