After going through 2 different rustoleum products, with bad results, within minutes after spraying, it would crack and spider-web (see pics above)

    i found these 2 products.

The ZAR is a urethane, (more for wood, but says plastic on the can) with UV protection
it worked well on my test light, but dried with a very rough finish, that would require wet-sanding and polishing

the product on the left is acrylic, and went on very smooth
procedure to get to my final stage..
    wet sand with 400
    wet sand with 800
    wet sand with 1000
Clean with alcohol - be careful on cleaners here, you can cause a light to fog.
    2 coats of acrylic clear
    wet-sand with 1000
    clean with alcohol
    2 coats of acrylic clear
    wet-sand with 2000
polish with a glaze, I used 3m hand glaze.

Will add a pic of the light shortly

Big difference. You will be able to see again when you drive at night.

Not quite factory fresh, but miles better than the original state for sure! Nice work and info on your process.

Lenses look great! Too bad the adhesive between the lens and bucket also discolors and shows through the now clear lens, eh?

before and after..Hope I can do as well with the outers.

Ted you nailed it, hard to do anything with those attaching points/adhesive, in that pic, it didn't have the black rubber around it, which does help.
