Question Time for a new master cylinder?

Applied the brakes yesterday and the pedal went slowly to the floor. Did have some limited breaking action, but no where near normal.

Tried to pump them up but with little success. Master cylinder is full of fluid, so I'm thinking the seals on the piston might have given up the ghost.
I'm no expert on brakes though, so what say you. Any advice is much appreciated.

Its my daily driver but I have access to my sons car so I'm not in a great rush, but I still need to get it fixed ASAP.

    Thank you for the help.

if you're sure you have no leaks, that would be my guess

    SVOeric,

Couldn't find any leaks on the car or drive way. Thanks for the insight, that's the direction I'm going.

I think Eric is on the right track, but also make sure your booster isn't having issues. Not the best video, but here is a long-winded video of how to check proper booster operation.

    Good luck.

Sounds like the master cyl could be bypassing internally. Typically with a booster issue you will get a very hard pedal because of the lack of assist, especially on a car with 4-wheel discs. I had one go bad on my old 87 5.0 track car that had the FMS rear disc conversion, scary thing to find out as you're heading to corner 1 at Watkins Glen in a pack of cars on the 1st lap of the race! LOL

    cheers

Its not the booster as the effort to press the pedal has not increased.

    Thanks for the input.
