    power steering / rack troubleshooting

I replaced the rack & pinion on my SVO a couple years ago. This year, I started it, and have no power steering.

Still has fluid in it, My suspicion is this replacement rack is toast, but it could be the pump, as it's never been changed.

I there an easy way to to check the pump? seems simple, but not something I've thought of before.

You should be able to pull the fill cap and see fluid movement in the reservoir when turning the steering wheel. I did have the c-clip that holds the shaft in the pump come off while running at Barber's MSP. The only thing that kept it from making a mess on the track was the belts that kept it from falling out. I was able to pull the PS pulley by hand forward to the point it began to leak at the front seal.
