    Porting the E3 Manifold

We all know the big difference in the apertures of the E3 and E6 but is there enough metal in the E3 to enlarge it to roughly the same size as the E6? I don't think this provides any benefit at stock power but a larger exhaust port would seem to be necessary as we move up to 300whp.

question may be, is it worth the effort for what you can find E6's for.
    E6's have 2 advantages,
1, they are less likely to crack (if you have an uncracked E3, that's impressive)
    2, a little better air-flow.

You can typically find used E6's ~75-150, ported ones <250, and then there's the gnari for ~300, and if you're shooting for higher HP, having that external waste-gate is a big advantage.

sooo, is it worth doing work on an e3, that will likely crack anyway

The Gnari kit is now almost $400. But one looking for better performance, that might be the way to go if you don't already have a solution.

EDIT: I didn't know they offered a FMIC! Looks like a nice kit.

Just the manifold is 279, you cold plate the external wastegate port until ready to use it.

the full kit has the external wastegate and piping included.

Ahh, got it. Their site isn't the friendliest to get around. I didn't know they had a FMIC kit until I poked around a bit. Weird.

Good point but square cuts on the E3 with some smoothing afterward looks like a half day of leisure time and that's a good interim solution until they break. That interval can be used to shop the best deal for a replacement. No one answered my question, does the E3 have enough metal to open them to E6 size?

    @gbeaird
The gnarl manifold doesn't seem to be as much bang for the buck as headers. Remember my $30/H rule. It does add up doesn't it

The Gnarli manifold don't have the issues the SS headers do, and also retains the EGR system, if needed. I don't know what the racing rules are for your intended class.
I'd also say the gnarli HP claims are a lot more accurate than the header claims.

Only thing with the E3, Especially if you remove material from it, I just don't know how long it's going to last. finding an uncracked E3, is a real unusual thing.
would suck to port the thing, and it crack a couple weeks later.

YES, it has enough material to open it up some, probably as much as a stock E6, probably not quite as much as you could open up an E6 tho,

Noted and thanks. Is there a typical crack location on the E3 or was it just an all around crappy casting? Aren't there alternate locations for the EGR downstream if you tie the headers? Ditto for the wastegate.

My E3 cracked between 1 and 2 exhaust ports.
