    Just saying hello!

Just wanted to say hello and thanks for letting me join the forum. I just picked up a 1986 svo. Glad to be a part of a relatively elite crowd ha ha. I'm from Brentwood Ca in the east bay of San Francisco. I look forward to learning all the in's and out's of these amazing cars.

Welcome to our humble forums, hopefully we can help edgumacate you this quirky Mustang model I am with Bruce on this one, let's see some pics and tale on how you came about your 86 along with any history you know of!! Also, don't forget to toss it into the Registry, so its history can either continue if it has already been entered or at least start.

I have papers going back to new. The previous owner had it on non op since 2013. I was going to look at another red 86 that was running and driving with current reg when this popped up on craigslist. I called the guy and we talked for about an hour or so ha ha. From what I can tell it has only 70k original on the chassis. The motor in not original but I have the original block (with a hole in the side the size of Texas ha ha). Got a bunch of spare parts with the deal. A friend of mine in HS had one almost exactly like this one. I always liked his car and have been looking for the right one for awhile now. Well I found it ha ha.

According to the papers it's an original bi wing delete.

Thanx for the pics, looks like you have a good base to start with. Cool that it is a bi-wing delete, those are fairly rare as you don't come across them all that often. Bummer on the rear 1/4, but that can be worked out when/if you get it into the body shop. I can see why you posted in the headlight thread, those need some serious TLC to bring them back, as long as the yellowing isn't too deep in the plastic.

Yeah I am going to attempt to save the lights. It's nice that the wing delete is rare but I kinda like the bi wing look. I may add the upper to this one. It kinda makes it a svo ya know.

Thanks for the pics. I like black SVO's. I tried to buy one before I got my 86. Lots of info here if you find the right search terms. May want to start a project thread so we can follow along.

Again Bi-Wing Deletes are really rare. But if you do decide to convert it you of course will need a Bi Wing style lower to match it. The upper spoiler is available from NPD. It is made from the original Ford tooling and is better than buying a used one that may be junky.
