    engine smokes when idling

My Engine will start to smoke when it is warmed up if I am idling.

I also get smoke when I start it up if it has been sitting for like more than 10 minutes.

I am think valve stem seals especially from the start up symptom but not sure if they can also cause the smoking when idling...

Start up oil smoke is a sure sign of valve stem seal problems. Depending on how bad they are leaking, it could cause the idle smoking as well. I would start there first.

I agree with Mike, the seals will allow oil to seep past when sitting for a while and sit on top of the valve then get sucked into the combustion chamber when started. During idle is a higher vacuum time and it could also cause the oil to be sucked past the seals and the amount of smoke can increase over time while idling.

When a turbo shaft seal starts to go you will typically get smoke virtually all the time with more as the exhaust system heats up.

    Thanks guys

I have NOS intake and ex seals in original packages. I will install those I guess. I have heard the newer turbo coupe ones may be better alternative??? I guess I will just stick with the NOS

The original equipment seals typically last about 60k miles.
