  • 88 LSC suspension

i have come accross an lsc and from what i understand this car has similar brakes as the svo.

would it be possible to use the front spindles/brakes on an svo, i have read that it can but nothing for sure.

is there anyway to use the rear end under an svo, i know it has air bags but i dont know if it still has a spot for shocks to bolt up.

    any help would be appriciated

The front rotors are SVO equivalent. The spindles, I am 99.9% certain, they are just regular Fox spindles and would nout mount up to the SVO lower control arm due to the ball joint diffference. The calipers should be fine for SVO use as well and are the larger 73mm units.

I would think the entire rear differential should bolt up into the SVO although I've never even bothered to look at the shock mounts.

Eyelawdoc and SVOPaul should know as LSC owners.

I did a coil spring conversion on my old Mark years ago... The shocks are the same location. Mustang driveshaft. You need the mustang rear lower control arms to put the coils in. LSC lowers have the bag mount. For that matter if you got the cabbage do poly bushings in the upper and lower arms while you're there... That is the difference. LSC prolly doesn't have the quad brackets. But for getting the SVO youre looking at I wouldn't worry about it.

        thanks guys,

is there any options for getting different ball joints put in svo a arms?

if i can figure out how to make the front brakes work i will buy the car.

The front brakes (calipers, rotors and hardware) bolt right onto the SVO . The Lincoln Mark VII spindles also bolt right up to the SVO ball joints. The SVO Konis will also bolt on to the Lincoln spindles (the Lincoln spindles are NOT the same as the lesser Foxes of the same era) . The SVO spindles were borrowed from Lincoln. The Mark VII Lincoln uses the same diameter ball joint shaft (though not the same ball joint) that fits the SVO.

The front lower control arms and the rear lower arms on the Lincoln Mark VII (set up for air bags) are completly different from the SVO and will not work. The SVO lower control arms were sourced from the 82-84 Lincoln Continental (also a fox body) that used springs and had four square non-aero headlights. Later Continentals had airbags like the Mark and the arms don't fit the SVO.

The rear axle housing has slightly different mounts for the arms and stuff, but the axles and dics brakes on the rear will interchange with the SVO. If the Mark VII is an 88-92 LSC model it has an 8.8 with a 3:24 traclok.

The front stuff works no problem.

The welded on bracketry for the Mark VII (sway bars, etc ) on the rear axle is different than the SVO. If you want to modify that slightly it will work. There are no quads or slapper bars on a Lincoln.

well thanks it sounds like i can make it work, i might have to get an 8.8 case if i cant get the quads to work.

and the best part is i can drive the car home for 500 bucks. then part the rest out.

I have an LSC differential in my 85.5. All the bracketry was the same except for no provision for the quads. It had 3.26 gears and the trac loc. I put in some used 3.73 gears that I had at the time and am now replacing them w/ 4.10 gears as I write this. I did exchanged the brake lines as they were different from the SVO but the calipers were the same. It is the same width as the SVO, just 8.8. It was an easy swap and I was surprised to find that without the dogbone on the front of the differential that it was within 5lbs of the 7.5 according to my trusty bathroom scales.

That is good news that some one has done this swap.

                      i feel more confident now.

                      thanks
