I have Bobs log header and I am considering getting it ceramic coated. Performance Coatings offers a Chromex coating, the real shinny one, but say its good for 1300 deg F. Just how hot does a turbo exhaust get?

1300
Temp of the exhaust is close to that. Going lean and you could spike up to 1500,
I read some a while back that had problem with the lower temp coatings.
Look for one that will handel 1800 to 2000, that way you know it will stay on there other wise it could start to chip away.
What you are looking for could handle it if it is a good product.
You get what you pay for.
How much will this cost you for the coating?
In the right car it looks really good.Last edited by svobrown; 10-20-2004, 06:50 AM.Time to clean up the engine bay!

I think you will have a hard time finding one that is "pretty" and will handle the higher temps.
I have looked into this many times, with no success. Jet-Hot is the most widely used, they have a "silver" high temp, but not shiny...

Pretty sure Rod's is polished stainless. They do "blue" over time.
I know JBA ceramic coats their headers in an optional "black" coating that I was told was for the higher temps. Thought Jet hot has the same process. I know black is not as pretty as silver/chrome though...-Mike Malone (svoca #416)

Exhaust coatings
I went to my powder coating guy and he had the ability to get a product that will withstand temperatures of 2000 degrees. Similar to a "Jet Hot" coating only a different brand name. Ask your local powder coating shop if they have a product that meets your temperature requirements.
