Just had a 3" strait through exhaust done over the rear axel. I wanted it (as well as the exhaust guy) to just go out the drivers side in front of the rear wheel but the subframe connectors were just too low. So he did some welding and put it over the rear axel and out the side.
Here in CA at Laguna Seca, they have a sound meter station on the right hand side of the track as you go uphill into turn 6. Having it go out the drivers side gives you a bit of a sound advantage.
However I've heard that they have starting doing roaming sound metering around the track but still have the sound station before turn 6.

If I ever get around to doing mine, I'll probably go out the driver side simply to make it look more like a stock '84-'85. I wish I could find a 3" inlet dual tip to complete the look.
vrinner, what muffler are you using? Any clearance issues with the axle?
So far, no muffler. It's loud as heck but then again, it's not driven on the street. I'll be putting on a Magna flow or something similar for Laguna Seca but I'll be able to remove it after that.

The yuppies encroaching that track piss me off. They have their airport where they fly in unmuffled airplanes all day to the airport located near the track, but beat the hell out of the track (which was there long before the houses) for the noise.
They keep tightening it down, and now some stock motorcycles have to chop the throttle through there to pass.
