  • cracked floor board and the seat is loose

i guess the person who owned my SVO last was... (hefty)?

Any good fixes for the floor boards? ("cross" type sub-frame connectors, and some welding)?

Get the cross type subframe connectors...I have the ones from Maximum Motorsports.

Mig weld the cracks...make sure you have cleaned the floorboard/cracks extremely well before you weld. Some suggest to drill a small hole at the end of each crack to stop the crack from getting larger. Paint the cracks with weld thru primer, then weld, then clean, prime with more weld thru primer for the next step below.

Get these from Performance Parts Inc.

from their website: PPI floorpan reinforcement plate, reinforces the crack-prone floorpan area under the rear of the driver's seat, simple 20-minute installation, this is the ONLY floorpan reinforcement on the market that really fits!, featured in the 5/95 Super Ford, 9/95 MM & FF and 3/97 Ford and Mustang Trader

It's the Police Mustang floorboard reinforcement from Ford IIRC. Stitch weld these in, and the prime and paint.

My Kenny Brown subframe connectors along with the above method of welding the crack fixed mine... These cars are prone to this regardless of the "heft" of the owners.
If it ain't broke... Give me some time!

I have the global west SFCs. But I like the look of those PPI reinforcements though. Someone on the board use to make SFCs, I thought.

My former '80 Mustang developed a healthy set of floorboard cracks under the driver's side, outside, rear seat mount. I had a friend weld the cracks back up (we measured over 37" worth of cracks!), then primered, painted and undercoated the area. It was quite amazing the difference the welded up floor felt. I never added any reinforcement items under that car. My friends '84 GT pulled out one of the front seat bolts and surrounding sheetmetal on a green light launch while I was riding along in the car. I am surprised he didn't kick a hole in his dash when it let loose and the seat twisted backward. We were both under 180lbs at the time, so weight has little to do with it.

I have Kenny Brown subframes with the cross brace and they work great. Unfortunately KB parts is still shut down due to his illness. Hopefully they will get things up and running again, as I would like to get the extreme kit add-on to my subs some day.

That would be Rob, the guy setting up Dyno Day for us.

If he still makes them, a Reunion pick up would save on shipping.

I don't know that Kenny Brown will open back up. He had other financial issues. All of the inventory was sold at auction, and even the test mules and race cars were sold.
Frank Ross, who has bought, and sold and parted a lot of Mustangs and parts, here in Franklin, helped with the liquidation. He also has one of the race cars.
There are still parts houses with stock of his parts though, so you might call around.

Thanks for the kind words. Keep in mind that our plate is a reinforcement only. If the floor is damaged due to accident or corrosion damage, you should repair the damage first and then use our reinforcement plate. Many people use our plate to preclude floorpan cracking, too.
