Second is the external pump equivilent to the ford motorsport external pump and what is the maximum pumping pressure?
Hello. The first question has been answered several times. just read up a few posts in this thread.

Second question: The original inline Bosch pump on the 84 SVO is a substantial part and when I deadheaded an 18 year old one on a bench test, it put out 88 PSI. I beleve the manufacturer rated it's max pressure at 85-92 PSI.

      grounding wire

Yes, just cut it and ground it. If I get a chance I'll get out and upload a pic of it for ya!

Thanks for the info. I was thinking that I could just cut it and ground it that way I don't have a whole bunch of wire strung out in the trunk. I bought a new pump from Ford a few years ago and was thinking about putting this on a 5.0 efi swap on a fairlane i have until I decide to replace it with a higher flowing unit.

I replaced the external fuel pump with a filter and while I was under the car I said to myself " There has got to be a better way." So what I did is drill a 1 1/2" hole on the backside of the fuel filter bracket, used the filter with the longer ends as stated in above posts and mounted a single filter, looks like it was done at the factory.

I just bought an 84 SVO. It came without the fuel tank. The seller supplied me with a tank from an 86GT. Could this work as a bolt in with no mods? Or will I have to modify the harness? Also can I use a 155 or 190 pump.

Pat_in_L.A.'s quote: "Second question: The original inline Bosch pump on the 84 SVO is a substantial part and when I deadheaded an 18 year old one on a bench test, it put out 88 PSI. I beleve the manufacturer rated it's max pressure at 85-92 PSI."

Does this mean that I should leave the external pump, or should I remove it and install the inline filter instead?

I new to the SVO world, and would appreciate any help I can get..

            Many thanks in advance,,,

An 86 GT came in single in-tank pump configuration. The simplest thing without buying any more parts would be to use what you have and do the resistor wire swap out. Running two high pressure pumps would probably lead to blown fuses, so you'd have to bypass the Bosch in-line pump.

The tank I used was out of a 95 Mustang bolted right in.

Ok i have a couple questions to add.

First: Why would someone move the inline pump and filter inside the car under rear seat? The only reason i could think is because the exhaust is close to where that stuff goes.

Second: Maybe i am reading it wrong but here it goes. Can you remove the inline and install a second filter on a 85, and just install the 255 intank pump.

Third: I want to move the line to driver side. and run a hard line and braided line instead of the nylon. Does anyone know where you can get duckbill to AN fitting adaptors?????

I would like to get that pump out of the car ASAP as i have been driving around with it like this for a couple of months.

only reason I can think of is they wanted to go up in flames ?

exactly, the 255 lph pump is not required, but highly recomended. -- also make sure you use the 255 HP pump

Why ? the nylon line is flexible, strong, and easy to work with if you have the right tools. why do you want to replace it?

yes, I'd get rid of a pump under the drivers seat quick...

My only sugestion, next time, Start your own thread, no reason to add to a thread several months old.

I know it is flexaible but i dont like how the fittings go on. When i did my fittings at the fuel rail i had to use boiling water and a deadblow hammer and tap them on. Also with the 3" exhaust my lines are a little close to the pipe.

Forgot to add i got the fuel pump holder today at the junkyard. If i got the harness with it can i use it instead of spliceing a wire in????

You will still have the resistor wire inline with the car.

Just do the splice.....it's easy and quick.

Search for pics on it. Mike Fleming posted good ones, do a search for them.

Ok so I can just put a 255 HP Walbro in the tank and then the inline pump just put a ranger fuel filter in place? What is this splicing wires thing? I have to do this if I get rid of the inline pump?
