  • heater core restrictor ?

tho im not if this is the correct place to ask it , im going to .

i just did the heater core in my svo , quite easy if youve done a few dashes , but anyways. i installed the flow restrictor for the heater core that i got from green sales that was said to be the correct one from a fellow member but i cand remeber who , i wanted to ask him a couple questions about the proper placement of it.
i dont thing i have it in correct , cause if i remeber correct it was supposed to insert into one of the porst of the core and i had to put mine into the hose at the front of the coresport but butted up to the opening

any help or pictures will be of great help

I have to replace mine too. But this will be my first one. I know what you mean about past experience being helpful. When I put dropped spindles on my truck the first side took about 12 hours (I had to make some of my own tools). The second side took me 45 minutes.

That one will work. You just stick it in the larger of the two pipes on the heater core. Really anything with a smaller opening will work. I've even used an 8mm socket once.

I used a stainless marine socket.

Now that I think of it I dont think a standard socket would lose the chrome either because of all the anti-corrosion additives to the coolant. Hell, I've used plenty of chrome-plated fittings and doo dads over the years that go on the coolant system.

it will not fit inside the inlet line , it would only fit in the hose

I'm gonna put one of those on my '88 LX heater core. The SVO heater core swap is a pain... I've done mine and helped Todd do his. The next gen dash starting in '87, they hung the heater core from a string and built the car up around it. Oh how I dread it. Last core change was in '95, and I still do an involuntary shudder thinking of it. WHY FORD WHY?
