  • Pics of my 95 Cobra Rs

Finally took some pics of my SVO with chrome 95 cobra Rs with Eibach Sportlines lowering springs and slotted rotors. Yes they rub on hard bumps and when reversing full lock to right. Maybe a different tire combo will fix it. Or stiffer shocks. Nah! They're 17s x 9 dammit!

            Looks sweet, Izzy!

But I think they are just too big for your lowered car. Give them to me and I'll try them on my non-lowered SVO with stock springs.

Ok Eyelawdoc, ill be right over to Palmdale in a few hours to hand them to you! Naw, seriously though, i wish i could've seen my lowered car with stock wheels, i sold them to a buddy with a 85 when he bought it with steelies. I wonder if a 225/35/17 would rub less, or if it would be too thin to mount on the beads of the rims.

What about rolling the rear wheel well lips under to provide a bit more clearance on the outside edges?

You used the Sportline springs for the V8 cars? How much did it lower the car? Looks good by the way!

                    tire size?

What size tires are you running on your car? I have the 99 GT wheels on mine and I am running 215/45/17 and they dont rub unless you hit a really hard bump in the road and the rears are the ones that hit. I also have worn rear shocks that need to be replaced.

Aw man, the hell i went through to do this. I did roll them the 'ole fashion way, with a baseball bat. Still rubbed. Then at work, took the wheels off and air hammered the fender lips as flush as possible(font too) and it even sorta banged out the fenders a bit. Then i took a grinder and cut off the excess rolled lips to prevent cutting my sidewalls any further. Rubs a WHOLE lot less but still rubs. ::Sigh::

Yes. V8 Fox Sportline springs fit the SVO and lower it quite well, very happy with stance but hate the wheel rub. Perhaps stock wheels would look good on lowered car too. I just deleted close up pics of a measuring tape with before and after shots of me lowering it but about 1.75 inches front and 2 inches rear. See below for pic of side by side spring heights.

Wow, i didn't know they made tires that skinny in that size. I wonder how that would fit my car. I have Continentals 235/45R17s. I was thinking 225/30ish was pushing it. Any pics of your car?

Me too, except they're not worn (sure act like it though), they are Gabriels (YUK!), all i had money for at the time. Am in the process of getting new KONIs all around, excited.

Heres some shots of my car before lowering

...with some V6 ponies(have seem them on stripped model GTs too). Backspacing on these wheels are pretty much the same as the Cobras (DUH, SN95), and actually had to roll the fender lips to make room for these wheels. The extreme banging of the fenders was to clear the 17s.

                          RR wheel

...compare the now right rear wheel from posts up above, quite a difference.

I'm running 255/40/17's on all four corners and may go with 275/40/17's in the rear later. The rims are 17x9" Konig Villains. I have no rubbing issues currently. I did however modify the suspension.

I put the 'fake' cobra R's (17x9) on my 86 SVO and they stuck out to point I couldn't drive it. (255s and 275s)This is a winter project, so I decided to put regular fox body front control arms and rear axle shafts on the car. I know..I know I pretty much ruined the geometry of the suspension, but this is a 'soon to be daily' car. So it won't be tossed around any cones or high speed corners any time soon.

Master plan is to save up and get 'correctly' backspaced wheels for the car, so I can put the original suspension back on the car, but the front brakes/tires were really screwed up and I had the frt suspension, wheels and 13 inch cobra brakes sitting in the garage begging me to put them on.

I like the way the cobras look on the SVO. Yes I know everyone has a set, but I still think they look good.
