Kiwi -- I Moved your post to a new thread...
We try to keep how-too stuff out of the product review section.

You shouldn't need a lift, altho it is very helpful to put the car up on ramps or jackstands.

the easiest way is to remove the downpipe,

    remove the oil input line

remove the Y brace by removing the 2 bottom nuts that hold the turbo to the exhaust manafold, and the one bolt that goes to the block

remove the oil return line from either the block, or the bottom of the turbo

then remove the top 2 bolts that hold the turbo to the exhaust manafold.

    that should about cover it...

on the nuts that hold the turbo on the exhasut manafol, you may have to alternate loosening them, as they won't come all the way off with the turbo still pulled up tight against the manafold.

The last couple of times I took the turbo off, I just pulled the exhaust manafold off with it, and took the turbo off AFTER I got it off

Eric/ Sorry you had to move my question= you're answer very thorough!!!//// The down pipe from up top;; I can't get a good angle (maybe need bolt loosener??) I think I will remove the whole thing (header too) at one time because of those couple of nuts underneath=====

the 2 bolts on the downpipe usually require about a 3 foot extension, a deep well socket, and a few choice words

you will still have to remove the downpipe to remove the turbo with the exhaust manafold...

The easiest way to get to those bolts is from underneath..
that is why you need the ramps -- you will need to be underneath to get the Y-support bracket and oil drain off too..

EDIT :: Oh yea-- you need to spray the downpie nuts with some penetrating fluid about once every 5 minutes about 5 times.. then let it sit for about 30 mins...

also.. taking a wire brush or a dremmel, (make SURE you have eye protection - either way) to clean the exposed parts of the stud off will be very helpfull ...

I'm totally with Eric on this one... it's always easiest to get the turbo off if you pull the manifold/turbo off all together The hardest thing I ran across getting the manifold/turbo off when I pulled mine off the car was getting the EGR fitting loose from the manifold. Use plenty of BP blaster and it wouldn't hurt to have a torch as well

Best thing I've bought thus far I believe (as far as tools go) is a 1/2" impact gun and a 3/8" air ratchet. Rusty bolts being a pain? Hit'em with the impact... they'll come off more than likely
