I can't beleive I missed this thread.
Very cool and informative, all 37 pages so far. I skimmed through all of them, slowing down at M.Fleming's avatar each time, lol.
I run a 89 Notch in CMC, built it in 2007. Have a very similar build thread on my local Stang site. I feel for your engine woes, been there with my setup as well. First 6 laps in mine a rod went south on a supposed 25K mile motor.
I bought my notch with a 2.3T originaly. I would have loved to run that motor, but CMC rules only allow V8s currently. My current setup is making 229.xRWHP with a max allowed of 230, for CMC 2011 there will be a HP bump to the 260's.
Anyway, don't give up, you're extremely close. The build has been a long journey. You have not cut any corners and the 2.3 has to be made reliable. They did it in the 80s.
I've had my SVO to the track running HPDE a couple of years back. Blew the head gasket on the last session of the day. Ended up replacing it in the lot.85 SVO

Rich: I looked at CMC also, but wanted to run the turbo 2.3. We are very close to making it work, but the development has been difficult and time consuming. Coming from the background of an old carb guy to standalone ECUs has been the automotive equivalent of re-entering the atmosphere missing a few tiles. Spectacular and saddening.
If you havn't already, you might want to look at Vrinner's ultimate suspension thread, and anything by Fitzmotor. Fitz has actually run in a couple of AI races, so he is ahead of me. Finishing those races is both our goals. I hear he may (and that's a big may) make the AI west end of season race at Buttonwillow on Nov. 8 & 9. I'll be at a wedding
.
Anyhow, thanks for the kind words, please jump in any time.

Alright, I'm done being pissed at the car. If Fitz is running, and Vrinner is running, I gotta get on the horse and ride.
New goals: Engine swapped in by the end of Thanksgiving weekend, back to Stu for tuning in December. I think I'll take it to the local dragstrip's (about 15 miles from my house) Saturday test and tune and run it up and down to make sure that it'll accelerate without issue. SCCA's member test day at Thunderhill is January 4th, we'll see if we can make that.
We'll be at NASA's 25 hour enduro the first weekend of December. Spectating.

Give Chris a Call - (Otto Man) he can help. With a name like Horsewidower - I assumed you were all done with Horses already! Sounds like they don't want to be done with you though.Originally posted by Horsewidower View PostDamn, hurt my back again stacking hay bales. I'm down for the count. Another wasted week's vacation. Have I ever said how much I hate horses.

Damn 8T6; drag me into this
Mr Widower
Is your back OK? If not I have a few tablets from my local apothecary for various purposes concerning sholder, arm and hand issues. They work pretty good too.
If necessary, I may be able to contribute to the program. (nod, nod, wink wink)
Just get that stupid car on the track this yearChris Weber

That is where we were a year ago. This year will undoubtedly be better. The wiring and computer debugging has been all but settled. I'm going out right now to start swapping the engines. Here's to a successful 2009!!!Originally posted by Horsewidower View PostWell, went up to see Shad today and discuss where we are. I've given him until Friday afternoon, he thinks that the issue is the wiring between the Haltech and the MSD. We discussed whether or not it was an EMI problem, grounding, trigger, programming etc. Its interesting to note that there is almost no discussion on the Haltech forums about this problem, but there are 65 threads about Haltech and MSD compatability on the MSD forum. Somebody had to point out to me that the MSD forums might have a solution.
The MSD box is giving the LED code for a loss of trigger signal, yet the haltech shows that it is getting a strong and steady trigger as the RPM on the screen is steady.
When I got there today, they were going through the wiring between the two boxes, we'll see what happens.

Or I might get fed up and sell this piece of crap!!
Happy New Year everyone!!
