So it would be the sort of thing to where you could choose only certain parts/pieces as needed I assume?
the reason I ask is that I already have new window motors, door lock actuators and door panel clips. I would just need the other stuff.

That's what Dave has in mind, as I understand. The notion is to get a complete door kit or just the individual parts needed. I think that he has a 2010 Reunion pickup in mind in order to save on shipping. Planning ahead helps. Some of this stuff takes a pucker power minimum order.
I have most of the parts already, or have the remainder in transit. I'll likely get a couple of kits, just in case we have any future additions to the 'fleet'.
I finally got things all sorted out and ready to go for the door rebuild kits.
I've got an excel spreadsheet with all the items and photos on it. You can pick and choose what you need from it.
I spent quite a bit of time locating some of the more obscure parts, verifying they work on our SVOs, and now want to give back to the club. I'm passing these on at my cost plus shipping.
Send me your email address in a PM and I'll send you the spreadsheet. Included are the following:
Window Run Seal (Specify LH or RH)
Window Guides (pair)
Window Mounting Kit with Aluminum Rivets
Window Motor Drive Gear Kit, with torque pins and lube
Window motor torque pins (only)
Door Lock Actuator with rivet
Door Striker Bolt
Door Striker Bushing (only)
Dew Wipe (outer, specify RH or LH)
Dew Wipe (inner)
Door Hinge Pin Kit (1 pair of hinge pins and 4 bushings)
door hinge rollers
Door lock gasket
door to body weatherstripping
Door Handle Rivets (pair)
Door Panel Clips (set of 14)
Odd, when I took my avitar picture I owned the black SVO...now I own the blue SVO.
Okay, while I'm waiting for the rear seat belts to arrive, I decided I'd pull the door windows and clean the tint off them. I have read the previous posts in this thread, but am not clear on some things. I can see the rivet, but nothing I have (even new titanium-coated bits) will touch that pin that's in the middle.
A previous post indicates you have to remove the guide also. Is this so you can pull the whole assembly out and get on the rivet from the 'back' (as you are looking at it in the car) side? I'm confused. Does anyone have details? Thanks.
Oh, and I got a 14V cordless Snap-On impact driver for my recent birthday. I was pulling out the old rear seat belts, and couldn't get to one with the 3/8" ratchet. My pull-handles were back at the house. I pulled this bad boy out, attached the extension and star bolt bit to it and Brrrp! It was out. Happy birthday to me! ;-)
That pin in the center is just the part of a poip rivit that breaks off. The other end of the rivit is open so just take a punch, 3/16 or dmsmaller, and punch that pin out (or in till it falls out in to the door). Then use a 3/13 drill bit and drill the center of the rivit head till the head comes free. The rest (back half) of the rivit will fall out.
And only use real metal rivits. The plastic ones that cme in the kits are good for a few hours - while never holding the glass tight.
I use a nail set, a spring loaded punch that after 5 or 10 tries will push the pin out of the pop rivet. I guess I don't have as much guts as Mike does...must be something about taking a punch to a window.....
Napa has the aluminum rivets. They are listed as a glass stop rivet, part number 770-2766. I had to buy an entire box (this was the start of the idea of the door rebuild kit; no need for all the SVO guys to have a partial box of 21 rivets (box of 25-4 used for the windows).
If you need some pics of the window removal process, send me your email address; AlexL and I redid his window at the 2009 reunion and Alex and his wife took loads of pictures! Here are a couple that are already on the site:
I tapped on the rivets pretty well with a center punch and an assortment of hammers. It didn't budge.
So, i guess the flip side of this question is: if I pull the nuts off the guide (two, I am assuming) is it possible to pull the window and guide as an assembly? There are no dew wipes on either door at this time.
Gene,
I don't think you can remove the window as an assembly (I've never tried, but it's tough getting all the hardware out of the door with it all apart)!
With that said, I've never had a window rivet that the nail set didn't get out.

Finally got the windows out. I actually had to take some ViseGrips to the stud, lock on, move them around some, rotating and rocking. After that, I was able to hammer them out, but it still took a fair amount of hammering. Scary stuff. It was also scary when the second stud popped out of the bracket and the passenger window dropped to the bottom of the door! Luckily, both windows came out in one piece. I can now clean the window tint scum off the insides, and decide if I need to replace the windows or not. They are pretty scratched. I may just put them down for any shows.
Yeah, note to self. I wasn't expecting the sudden drop. I guess I was so giddy about actually getting somewhere, I forgot to think about that. Well, I'll now know for our NEXT SVO. ;-)
