There's this thing called material transfer and gaulling. The size of parts has been known to change after being exposed to those things. It's kinda the opposite of wear.
Correct, the material actually transfers from one surface area to another (whether the same material, or from one item to another) and increases the suface area.
We have thrust bearings in transfer gearboxes for a gas turbine generator that has this problem sometimes. We periodically have to check the thrust bearing clearance, and people (who don't know any better) say, "gee, the gap is getting smaller, cool!"
Not cool.....gauling (or galling, depends on the definition source).
So now that we know the why the valve stayed open. Can we understand this pull anymore? To remind you all, the pull was shut down do to the A/R. The alternator on the first several pulls did run a full charge. This pull had plenty of battery power and fuel pressure.
The car came with a SuperChip and 42’s. Unsure the background on these two things.
Why bother trying to understand the pull? We all looked at the alternator or fuel pump when something else may have been the fault. Let's just fix the known head problems, verify or deny the fuel pump and alternator. Then let's start over fresh. We all know that you have gobs to be unleashed in there.
