  • anonymous email not allowed?

i use hotmail and do not have another e-mail address, i was informed that my account will be deleted shortly if i do not get another one, i enjoy this site and the help i get here. i sent an e-mail to the webmaster and got no reply, is this one of those rules with no exceptions or what? i would really like to keep my account but $10/month or more just for some e-mail box i will not use is a lot of money i could be using on gas for the svo.

I kinda agree with this as well....I use Hotmail when I'm out on the road and sometimes that is anywhere from 45 - 60 days at a shot. I always look foward to checking up on SVOCA.com and seeing what is going on. I did change my account to reflect my ISP E-mail, but no one will have a chance to E-mail me while I'm gone unless I was to start including my Hotmail E-mail address as part of my signature......

yes, this is one of those rules with no exception.

we're sorry it may exclude some members or enthusiasts from posting to this forum, but this has become a necessary limit of our forum and it's users, as changing this rule will effectively link anyone posting to this forum with their true ISP - thus helping in maintaining the integrity of the forum.

We allow any and ALL people to be a contributing factor to this Forum - regardless if they're an active Club Member or not - but actions of a few have dictated that we change to fit the times.

You will have to have an ISP email account to maintain a registered screen name here.

        I agree

I agree 100% with the webmaster on this issue. It will hinder the shenanigans of the foolish. If someone needs to communicate while on the road couldn't they use their private message function?, or have their secondary email address listed in their bio? Just a thought.

guys, most ISP's offer web mail for when you are on the road. I am in Boston MA right now, and using my earthlink dial up account. They have web-mail. If you aren't sure, you might call your ISP and ask them, Most do provide a web interface for your email
          Even AOL has web mail.

Also, for people that have email at work, but may are not to use it for personal use... in your profile, just turn email notification off. After you get one email from the forum (telling you to click the link to activate your account) you won't get another email. -- you can also put a yahoo email address in your signature, or profile so that others can contact you if you don't want to use the PM features.

drewkeen - contact directv (your Internet Service Provider) and ask them - if you're paying for internet access, then they should have you listed under a customer number or screen name - that should also be your email addy through them. If you try to circumvent the rules of this website - the results won't be to your liken.

cant the administrators just block the ISP addresses of the people that are trolls hear so they cant come hear and be a problem. i think that would be easier to do than making a bunch of people loose the privldge of posting here.

Blocking addresses is a problem unless the offender has a static IP address. If they are pulling from a block of IPs (DHCP) and you block that range you could be blocking other legit users from coming in as well. I dont think their solution is perfect but it works well for what they are trying to do. I agree with what they are saying also about free emails. I work for a ISP and we offer free emails to all of our customers from Dialup access all the way to T3 access. If a ISP doesnt offer email (which would be a first for me to hear) then I would complain very loudly or switch providers (if you can).
