Will these Wheels fit my SVO?

While I prefer to stay in the 16" wheel world for now, but may try some 17" wheels in the future. I know many already have tried many different combos. Others may want to install 17 and 18" wheels on their SVO and could use some insight of what works and what "kinda" works.

The 17 and 18 wheels from regular Mustangs (due to offsets and fender well size) will not fit your SVO without making some slight modifications.

I have found that aftermarket applicatons for the Probe GT wheels that have 38-40mm offsets seem to fit the best for "bolt on" wheels.

If you have experience with larger wheels on your SVO - PLEASE post what wheels you're using and what you had to do in order for them to fit - or what kind of min rubbing occurs.

I'm running '94GT tri-spoke 17 inch rims with NO problems, but I'm also not running normal SVO suspention either (check sig)
I'm currently running 225/45 17s, and no rubbing whatsoever, and I'm installed 245s in a few weeks.
they actually look pretty good!!!

I am running 95 GT tri spokes w/a Kumho 245/45/17 tire.
I have experienced SLIGHT grazing on hard bumps in the rear.
It should be noted that I am running stock suspension and my springs are fairly worn( ride height is a little lower than stock)

I was curious about the 2k Cobra rims and 99-02 Cobra Rims.
18x9 and like 17x8... anyone on this? I know these rims are different due to the IRS in those models....

I purchased a set of 99 5-star 16x8 rims from mps. The wheels fit like a glove,no mods needed to make them fit. However,they do rub just a shade in the left rear.

I have a set of 96 Cobra 17x8s, the car is lowered 1.5", and the only time the rears rub is on BIG dips, and thats the only reason I'll be doing the SN95 rear brake swap in a little while. The fender lips are rolled, and the tires are 235/45/17 in the front, and 245/45/17 in the rear. I HAVE found that tire brand has a great deal to do with fitment, my old Comp TAs never rubbed, but the Sumitomos at the same size rub a little.

I just thought I would add some more info to Bud's orginal message. I took a wheel off and did some measuring, so here is what I came up with:

Mounting width: 7"
Overall width: 8.125" (outer lip to outer lip)
Backspacing: 5.75" (mounting pad to outer lip)
Calculated offset: 1.6875" or 42.9mm

Do what you want with the info. Later.

WHen I bought my SVO it came rolling on a set of Autum Fleet Sales (AFS) 1996 Cobra 17x8 look-a-likes..... basically same rims as 1996 cobras.... just not made by ford.


I however sold them and bought a set of '01 17x8 Cobra rims.... and they DO NOT fit the front spindles what so ever.... the wheel center would have to be machined out and a custom center cap made. The rears also stick out the rear fenders 1.5" due to the SVO having longer axles then a stock mustang!!!!

Does anyone know if standard 95' gt wheels will fit? They are 16" 5 spoke ponies, and I want to run the factory suspension with 225/50r16 tire size. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the image, i also was wandering if the standard 16's off a 2000 would work. They look alot alike, but i don't know if they have the same backspacing or so forth.

Thanks for the quick help man! I think that they may match the sharper lines a little better, and my dad has a set on his 00 GT that he is selling.
