Standard Fox axles in a Turbocoupe 8.8

I decided I'm going to want to put some 275's on my SVO and I already have a turbocoupe housing. Is there any way to put standard Fox axles in and still retain my SVO brakes? I think I have heard that someone makes brackets to bring the calipers inward a little.

All rear ends were the same, it was the axles that were different. You can put standard fox length axles into your SVO rear and be fine (2 left side Ranger axles for 5 lug). As for brakes there is an easy route and a hard route. The easy way would be to get a pair of brackets from northracecars.com and use SN95 rear brakes, and the hard way would be to do a flip on the SVO brackets, but it requires some welding and the e-brake become a challenge to get working. You can find all your answers at the following web site. I have done this swap on every fox car I own, and plan to do the same thing your talking about to the SVO.

Also wanted to throw out there that the quad shock mounting points on the TC rear are higher than on the Mustang so a redrill will be necessary (1.5" lower IIRC). It is however an 8.8 which would be stronger than the stock 7.5. They are all 28 slpine from the factory.

Bah, and here I thought my 8.8 swap was going to be relatively cheap. Now I need to get all new brakes.

Just grab a complete Turbocoupe 8.8 and swap the axles to 5 lug.
The track width will still be shorter than an SVO.

Using what you already have and doing the flip. Seems pretty straight forward to me and welding isn't required. Just need to source some left side ranger axles.

I just completed the SVO brake "flip" on my Capri as described here...

http://home.pacbell.net/black306/tech/reardisc.html

I also went 31 spline at the same time, so I purchased new Alloy USA axles from Summit in 5 Lug, 31 spline (duh).

Follow the directions on the link. It took all of an hour a side to complete the required grinding, and that was being anal about making it look nice, everything rounded, and leaving as much as possible. I had the bolt heads for the intermediate brackets TIG welded to the mount brackets before I started. I had a question if you needed to flip the intermediate braket or keep it in its same orientaion. In the end, I kept that pracket with its caliper although I dont think it mattered in the end.

Right now, I have my e-brake hooked up using the stock brackets, just moved in a little. The cable is still on some angle, nut it seems to work fine sitting on stands I might have to play around with it a little, but will need to wait for spring. Another guy I talked with about the swap simply hooked the cables up with no rear brackets and he tells me his works fine too.

No way would I step down to the SN95 / TC brake parts. I hate both the lousy slider pin set ups and a e-brake set-up with those calipers.

I am real happy with the conversion on my stuff, lets me fit a pile more tire under the car with simple wheel selection.

I believe the SVO rear brakes uses slider pins...

Indeed they do, as most disc brake set-up have. Have you ever looked at / worked with the TC slider pin set up? The intermedate bracket uses a blind hole with the slider pin inside. The caliper is then bolted to the slider pin. Basically, the pins get dirt / water in them and stick, then its a fiasco to extract them. I love the SVO / Lincoln set-up, its so simple, robust, and easy to work with compared to the other system.

Yes I have.
I have both rear disc brake systems on my vehicles.
Neither is superior to the other.
Both are lacking from an engineering stand point.
