  • 3" Stainless Downpipe fitted!!!

    Hey All,
well I was researching 3" DP'S and came across this one. It's sold by the guys at www.merkur.50megs.com It was $125 + shipping and he'd never sold one to an SVO owner so what with the chance to do some R&D and have a nice shiney downpipe I couldn't resist.

Took it into to "Rich's Exhaust & Custom" in Mollala, OR today where Garrett, who just happens to own and 84 9W SVO did a great job of making it fit. Actually, and hopefully he'll chime in, Garrett had no real problems making it fit. The only mod needed was removing the welded on Merkur crossmember bracket and fabbing one to fit my crossmember. We added a Magnaflow 3" high flow cat and it looks great.

It looks really good, fits great and doesn't hang to low. I'm happy. And now, for the pic whoe's...........

Looks very nice I was looking at that myself. Just a bit nervous on how thin the SS was. How was the fit on the flange end?

u know the SVO hobby isn't chea[]D lol... hardest part is trying to find a decent running svo.

looked like a hassle free fit, thats 3" to 2.5 from the exhaust back to the rear? i see different welds thought it was 3" all the way back. looks good

Yeah my response could have been taken a couple of different ways. I think $125 is a pretty good price considering some of the down pipes I've looked at were $300.

For the money I think it's a great piece. I'd pay more for the MD downpipe if it were stainless.

Yep, system goes 3" to 2.5". The muffler is a Stainless Dynomax "XL" (??) turbo. tailpipe is also 2.5" with a stainless tip. I kept it in case I ever want to go duals.

The downpipe gives the system a deeper tone and and spool-up is WAY faster!!!

guess this works out for the maker of the pipe, your pictures are on ebay now selling it for SVO's- thought the pics looked familiar!
