VSS people...

Ok, I have a question about the VSS on our cars..I already know the pins, have the wires ran, etc...

84 with LA3

what I'm having an issue with is getting the speedo cable actually into the VSS..I had a sensor already that came with the car so I tried making my cable fit and no go.. the end of it just does not fit into the VSS. So, I get on rockauto and order a new VSS and speedo cable for a 87-88 T-bird...have to fit right?... wrong.. I got them yesterday and I immediately opened both boxes and they are exactly what I have already..they don't fit.

wrong cable? (I'm guessing)

nevermind..it is the wrong cable.. per the picture.

so from your 2nd post, I'm guessing you need to order the cable that says 'with speed control'

all the 87-88 t-birds show the same cable..anyone know the model that will come with the correct cable? ford only part?

yes..which I thought I did, but they all show the same cable.

looks like i might have to get a universal cable and cut to length..that's all I see at autozone as well...weird.

Have you Checked at FORD DEALER Its could be still avalible.Or check with other Jobbers..

I looked on all the OEM ford parts sites and nothing comes up for a cable for them..only the none cruise/speed control ones. I'll call a dealer in a little bit.

I was told to get the cable for the 94/95 mustang. It is suppose to have the VSS on the cable and wires to attach to it. I haven't ordered it yet though...

I checked that year and it just shows the VSS itself just like the other model years, no cable just like the t-birds.

think I found one..needs to be like this.. this fits inside the VSS with the driven gear on the end of the VSS.

not like this... this is the OEM cable for Fords with NO VSS...goes straight into the tranny with driven gear on the end.

So what is the correct cable? What's it to? How is the length on it? I see that Ron Morris use to have the correct cable.
