  • Vam test procedure

    Ok,

To check the VAF meter vane signal:
    1. Go key on. Turn key off, wait 10 second
    2. Backprobe VAF connector between VAF lead (2nd from right) and SIG RTN pin (lead on left)

NOTE: stand at passenger side fender and view VAF meter from the top.

    3. KOEO
    4. move VAF vane gently and smoothly throughout entire range.

You should see a variable voltage from 1 to 5 VDC without any breaks as vane is move through entire range.

I would like to add to this test some pic's that might help anybody that is doing this test..

There are 4 wires in the connector to the VAF.. With the VAF still mounted in the car & you looking at the plug from the passengers fender.. Starting from the left of the plug, there is a GREEN wire, a WHITE w/black stripe wire, an ORANGE wire, then a BLACK w/white stripe wire..

When testing the VAF for voltage, you should probe the WHITE w/balck wire(2nd from the left) with the positive (RED) lead on your volt gauge.. The BLACK w/white stripe (far right wire) is probed with the (BLACK) connector on your volt meter..

Here are some pic's if they help..
