  • SVOs I own, and have owned over the years...

I'm going to follow Seth's lead since I'm bored and this place needs to wake up again. Feel free to post pics of any and all SVOs that you have owned.

    My list:

84 1C totaled and incomplete. The only SVO I have ever parted out. It was crushed / bent all the way back into the cowl. It's in the background up on cinder blocks and landscape timbers.

Another 84 1C that I saved and then sold to Kendal that I have no pics.

84 1C Watkins Glen Pace Car.
    85 4E Hertz
    85.5 2R Original owner
    85.5 2R "Barrett-Jackson" Third to last built 85.5 that I sold.
85.5 1B That I sold it to Bud all those years ago.
86 7B That I bought from Victor. Total bare shell resto with all NOS or refurbed original parts.
86 4E Comp Prep that I sold to Kendal.
86 2A Comp Prep that I sold to Kendal.
    86 1C T-Top that I sold to Dave.
86 7B Fifth to last built and a BWD car. I owned it for 8 days. It now lives at the Mustang Museum of America.
    86 4E That I bought from Chris Doughtie's Widow.

Wow, Ken, that collection is about like our collection of GM B-body (Caprice/SS) cars!

I've wanted an SVO since first seeing them in 1984, and finally got my chance to get an '84 many years later. I don't think I have any pictures of that one, perhaps a picture of the window glass someone shot out with a pellet gun one night while parked in my driveway, but that would be about it. It had the usual crumbling wiring insulation, and left me walking to work one morning on the way to work when it just quit running. I think it also had a bent pinion flange/bent pinion shaft, as it had a pretty good vibration at highway speeds.

Seeing the money pit that it could end up being, I sold it for about what I paid for it. I really enjoyed the car when I had it, but was relieved to see it go,

The 86 was bought to be our 'beater' autocross car, since we were both auto crossing new cars, and my wife was getting annoyed at the rock chips on the finish of her 98 Dakota R/T (pretty much literally all the mileage on that truck has been to, at, and back from autocross events). That's the one we're restomodding now.

          Some pictures are here:

I've only owned 2 SVO's (white and black) and a wannabe 88 that I converted to 2.3T. The white one has been sold. Also, I have owned over a dozen different fox bodies over the years and I'm down to 3 (black SVO, 82 GT, and 79 Pace Car)

            My other fox body vehicles:

You guys should consider yourselves fortunate to have had the opportunity to have smooth many SVOs & Fox body cars. I have wanted one for years after getting assigned an SSP for my work car 35 years ago. A co worker who had more money than me bought an SVO & told me it would run rings around our SSPs. With family, kids college & other obligations I never had the opportunity to get one until last year. It was worth the wait, I love driving it.

crizzo, the important thing is you got a chance to own one and were able to latch onto one.

I have only had (1) SVO myself, the one I have now. It found me back in September 1991, now 28 years ago (where did the time go??). I have been fortunate enough to hold onto it, but haven't found the need to get another one, which would open up a whole new host of issues on where to park/store it. Maybe some day I will have the ability to get (4) vehicles under roof and will pick up another one...if my wife doesn't pick up a 'toy' of her own. She had a 1986 Mustang GT convertible when we met and eventually sold it several years ago. Occasionally she mentions about getting another convertible something some day.

I did own (2) Foxes prior to my SVO. First was a 79 Turbo that lasted me a whopping 29 days and then an 80 4-cyl hatch that lasted me 12 years and 163,000 miles. Come to a Reunion and I can fill you in the details of those two rides

Here are the two SVOs I've owned and an 86 Coupe I built from a shell. I've owned more, but this all I have pics of. My first was a new 84, 4cyl. coupe.

Kendal - What are you down to now, about 35? I've had quite a few SVOs over the years and other Fox bodies. Still own a 89 Steeda, 88 Saleen and a 84 SVO but you have me beat for sure.

1st SVO - 85 2R, 30k miles. Scott Robinson has this one now (and it looks MUCH better now than this pic)

3rd SVO - White '85, this was an AWESOME track car, I regret selling but at the time I had no place to keep it.
