  • Vin stamped on Engine?

Did Ford stamp the Vin on our engines?

I pulled my engine last month and the stamp on the engines "ALMOST" matches my Vin on my car...
My actual Vin is GF215358 and the motor was stamped GF215359....must have been built on a Friday...LOL

I believe they did. That's on the head. I think the block numbers on the intake side near the distributor.

Yes, I stand corrected! That is the Head. Thanks, I will investigate further...

Either way, there is fughazy things that I tend to see when I really analyze these cars closely...Friday and Monday cars absolutely 100% exist (they didnt need to be build on Mondays or Fridays to qualify either)

Funny thing was I actually was not looking for the stamping, I just noticed it and then I realized it looked similar to my VIN

Interesting uh, tubing clamp it has there. I think that was the one I left off when I changed out the tubes on our car.

NOTE: Pay _close_ attention to the orientation of the three tubes that go back there. Get them in the wrong order and, IIRC, the EGR tube won't line up right. I was going blind, since the engine was in the car when I did all this. The FSM is very good for helping determine the correct orientation, but you know what pictures are worth.... ;-)

LOL, when I was doing the work...the LAST thing I was worried about was that strapping LOLOLOLOL!!!!!

Car is going in for paint this week. It is a 1D and I am thinking of going with Ford "DARK MATTER GRAY METALLIC" I always wanted it a bit darker and it will still be "kind of" be "sort of" close to its original color....

Partial VIN is stamped into a machined flat surface right near / above the starter motor.

I would assume no VIN means it's a service block.
