  • 1986 2R from original owner

I just got a 2R I bought last week from the original owner. 43K original miles, original paint and all documentation from new. Only missing the window sticker unfortunately. Was a very sad and emotional situation.
I been looking for a 2R like this for 2 years and this one just came up out of no where but I was ready to immediately make a move for it. The family was selling it bc the owner (Curt) was ill and in a home and sadly was not going to be coming home. Curt had toyed with selling it before he got sick. His medical bills were piling up and his wife and he agreed to finally sell the car.

I flew out to Utah to look at the car (from Long Island, NY) and it was everything they said it was. Original paint (my #1 priority for my 3rd and last svo...LOL), documentation, original owner car.

When I met the family I was only able to meet his son and his sister in law bc Curt took a turn for the worst the night before and was really sick. It was a very real life situation.

The car is in excellent condition. Interior is pretty much a 10/10 and exterior is a solid 9-9.5/10. A few rock chips on the hood and 2 minor pinhead type dents

Curts wife was extremely relieved that I immediately flew out there to get this done. Honestly, I did not even try to talk them down on the price, especially after knowing what the money was going for. I gave them 20K for the car (their asking price). In my opinion even if I overpaid a few grand...so what...(I don't think I did)

It is an honor for me to have this car and to continue its legacy.

I flew out on a red-eye weds night bough the car Thursday am, Curt sadly passed away on Friday afternoon and I returned home Friday night on a red-eye flight.

During this sad time my beloved Koda (my Chocolate Lab) had to be put to sleep Thursday night and I could not be there for him. All this in 2 days...My pup was 10-1/2 and recently been diagnosed with Lymphoma. I thought he would last a few more weeks but it wasn't meant to be... An emotional roller coaster to put it mildly...

I will post more pics when I have time

Beautiful car. The right color!!! :-). Very sad the circumstances, though.

Sorry to hear about your pup. We lost two last year. Both to cancer. One very sudden, the other, after we discovered it due to 'enhanced' examination after the first one passed, we got about 6 more months with her while treating her for the disease. Still a sad time.

Thanx for sharing the story behind that one, certainly a roller coaster ride on both sides of the coin. Sorry to hear about the now late former owner Curt, but he seemed to be a good guy who really cared for the SVO and it certainly found a good home. Condolences to Curt's family and yours for both losses.

Been a bit busy lately but finally hunted for the build sheet to see if there was buried treasure hidden somewhere...BINGO! Did not have to look to hard...

Ted, On my 85.5, I was like an archaeologist with tweezers trying to pull it off the sound deadening on the floor to try and not tear it and it was all discolored. This one is in literally brand new condition. Its crazy. Salt Lake City all its life and dry climate I guess...

When I pulled the scuff plate, I was like wow...that was so easy.

I still checked under both seats in front of and behind the seats just to see if there was another or anything else
