  • Clutch Kit?

So, I was out doing some fine-tuning this afternoon, seriously smoked the clutch. I did some research and ended up goin with a Spec SF721-5 clutch kit. It's a 2+ setup for up to 380tqft at the crank. I also bought myself a Christmas gift and bought the lightened aluminum flywheel. Flywheel is neutral balanced and has a replaceable friction disc.

Anyone had any experience with this setup or something similar?

As most of you know, these cars tend to hang onto a gear between shifts, rpm's linger longer than they should as these cars were never designed to be 1/4 mile racers. I figured a lighter flywheel might alleviate a bit of that rpm hold.

    What say you?

Link to kit, not a sales pitch...

When looking for a new clutch, trust Spec for the best in value and performance. All SPEC clutches are SFI approved for racing safety and come with a 120 day warranty from the date of purchase against material and manufacturing defects.

I have that exact same setup. It's a little bit harder to get going from a stop but does zing up to redline faster. Mine had a little bit of "chatter" but nothing too bad.

I am running the Stage 2/Fidanza aluminum flywheel setup in my car. Had it in for ~15 or so years and no complaints on my end. Last time on the dyno netted me 272hp/310tq to the wheels, so their torque claims seem to be good. Never had any lugging issues off the line as compared to the stock setup.

So, I managed to get my clutch in the other day. Feels just like the factory imo... Shifts smooth, no chatter with the Aluminum lightened flywheel. Looks like a winner! Did the oil pan reseal and rear main while I was at it. Only had to drop the rack out of the way to pull the pan. Easy peasy... Cork gasket with a bit of engine gasket shellac on both sides. Sealed up nice.

Is your engine stock? So after a year on the road what do you think?
