Well, As if I needed more problems on top of my wrecked Bronco...
Last night on the way home, I noticed my oil pressure was low. I stop and check the oil, and it's low. Get some cheap oil to get me home, and then go get some good stuff.
I drained it, and refilled with Mobil 1... Daughter distracted me, and I spilled some on the exhaust manifold. I figure I'll burn off what I can't get to.
This morning I leave, and sure enough, it was smoking. I figured it'll stop soon. Nope. kept smoking. Halfway to work, I pull over, and realize the smoke's coming out the tailpipe. Uh Oh...
My oil pressure is still pretty low. It used to ride straight up in the middle. Now it's barely in the normal range, and falls below at higher RPM's. So I baby it to work, trying to keep the oil pressure up.
It backfired a couple times, and is missing badly. Seems to be running on 2 or 3 cylinders. I'm not hearing any death knocks or rattles, so maybe that's good.
The engine has about 30,000 miles on it since rebuilt.
At that time, it got a motorsport graphite headgasket, crower cam, new springs, valve seals, rings, bearings, honing, and all new gaskets, etc.
I have no oil leaks and the antifreeze doesn't seem to have any oil in it. I don't think it's a blown head gasket.
I'm thinking I bent the driveshaft for the oil pump, and, as a result of low oil pressure, may have damaged the rings or something...
Any sugestions on where to start? I pulling the distributer out at lunch to check the shaft.
I just pulled the distributer, and the shaft appears fine.
I searched this site, and turboford, and it seems like it might be the turbo seal...
Although, I don't recall what type of valve seals I used when rebuilding the head. I did not have the internet then, and probably used whatever came in the gasket kit.
