The people. It's as simple as that.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again... the members of the SVOCA are the best in the world. They never cease to amaze me. In the nine years I have attended the reunions, I have never seen anyone working on his car alone. There are always countless others willing to help with whatever is needed. If someone needs parts, there is always somebody who has what they need and most times willing to give them whatever it takes to get their SVO up and running. I have seen instances of several members loading up and driving 35 or 40 miles and wrenching into the wee hours of the morning to help another member get his car to the reunion.
In the "Fitzwater at GRM UTCC" thread, there were several members who offered everything imaginable to help him get his SVO in the race. Everything from offering to help wrench on the car to giving him tires, and even offering to pool their funds to buy him a new set of tires.
The most recent example of this kind of kindness is in the thread "Spotted 85-9L t-tops. Several members got together and bought an 85 t-top SVO and GAVE it to a very deserving member. The only way I know to describe this is to say that I am amazed.
The point I'm trying to make is that these are the kind of people you'll be spending the weekend with.......simply the greatest bunch of guys in the world. Yes, it's about the cars, but it's also (and I think more importantly) about the people, so make your plans to attend.
I hope to see you all there!
