  • Window motor slow or not working?

I ran across a cheap, simple repair for window motors I thought I'd pass on.
I have taken apart 6 motors now, and all had at least one torque pin shattered.
I have found a source for the torque pins...a set of 3 runs about 2 bucks.
In addition to replacing the torque pins, I've cleaned the motor and relubed the gears. The motors run like new.
I'll be at the reunion, if anybody wants to buy a set of 3 torque pins, let me know and I'll order them for reunion delivery. Maybe a tech session is in order?
Odd, when I took my avitar picture I owned the black SVO...now I own the blue SVO.

      Window motor tech session

Ok, both my windows are slow, I picked up various parts last year, bushings, nylon gears and stuff I've never gotten to. I would love to participate in a window (door) rebuild tech session at the reunion!

Take pics and post for us reunion rejects... I'm scared to roll mine down thinking they won't go back up, but have a million other things to fix first.

Bring the motors (if you have them out of the car), a can of CRC Lecta-Motive electric motor cleaner and some paper towels. We'll get pictures.

            Acutally, it goes
"Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day".

speaking of drinking beer all day, I just did a quick search through Reunion attendees, and I don't see Kurt..... what's up with that?

Also moved this thread to the reunin 09 section... we can put up a tech thread with pics (Dave_S hopefully) when we do a few at the reunion.

The main reason is that I started this new job in February and don't have the accrued time to take off. Any time I did earn I had to use (sucks). The one good thing is my 401K has made 33% to date.

Anyway, the SVO is still in the garage with the interior 3/4 of the way out, fuel system removed, etc. I have not been proactive enough this year. I need to get Tony (93-331-29psi) over to the house so I can turn the car around (steep driveway) to get it in position to remove the engine. From there things can progress.

                Next year for sure!

Uh huh ... I think I may have new one, "Dave will fix window motors while you're out fishing!"

                  You're the best Dave!!

Bud, there's a lake about 5 miles from the reunion... I can drop some motors off friday afternoon, after dyno day, we'll head to the lake.

Try to have them done by the time we get back Dave, I'll need to put them back in the cars

Build a man a fire and he will be warm for an evening. Set him on fire and he will be warm for the rest of his life.
