  • Picture size?

I can't seem to post pics because they are over the limit of 250K, most are 900k to 1 meg. My question is how is everyone else posting there pics, I tried winzip to compress them but its still way to large. These pics are in JPEG form and are nothing more than what everyone else gets posted. Do I have to be a SVOCA member to post larger files? Is there some program everyone else is using to post theres? I have tons of great pics of my resto project that I'm sure everyone will apppreciate.

I would suggest using Adobe Photoshop if you have it. This program has a pretty good feature for resizing files. Otherwise, try a search for resizing programs you can download (usually freeware or shareware). I like to use the site http://tucows.com

    Hope this helps.

I assume you are taking the pictures with a digital camera, not scanned images. If that is the case there are a couple of things you can do. The camera should have the ability to adjust the "size" of the picture before you take the shots. Usually this is in the Set-Up screen, or menu on the camera. Another way to adjust the size is in your computer viewing software that you got with the camera. Converting the picture to "web format" with this software will reduce the size.
I'll do some more digging in case this doesn't help you.

actually -- 250k is HUGE compared to what most sites allow for file size. Remember -- not everyone has a DSL, or high speed connection, downloading a 900k image -- on a GOOD 56K connection would take between 5-6 minutes.

I use a little program called I_view -- it is VERY quick, and simple for quick resizing search on google, and it will come up if you are interested.
