are the 8.8 rear disc axles the same?

i have a bent axle in my 86 svo. what are my options? will a 8.8. rear axle with disc work? thanks

if you are refering to an axle from another mustang model(GT),Its not the same width(narrower).the svo uses the lincoln rear end which is wider if im not mistaking?you could check with the dealership to see if the axle part #'s are the same to be sure.

They are definitely NOT the same....The SVO's are wider because they come from the lincoln...

You could just swap the entire 8.8 in..

which lincolns did the axles come from?

lincoln mark iv? you could check w/the dealership to see which one,the part # will be the same under either application(lincoln or mustang) the part # will also indicate year model .

i got one for $50.00 out of a 84 markvii

there is a web site http://www.car-part.com junkyards report here to let you know what they have . also i have a friend who works at a ford dealership. he told me that the 84-86 continetials will work. but, that is all ford would tell you. the web site did the rest. i typed in my svo info and it did the rest there were yards listing axles right out of a svo but they were too far away from me.
