  • IRS from a Mark VIII

Would an IRS from an early 90's Lincoln mark VIII fit my 84 svo?

I wouldn't think so, since the MkVIII moved to the MN-12 platform and away from the Fox platform that it used on the MkVII. I could be completely wrong, but I remember looking at my '97 XR7's suspension and it looking completely different than the Cobra setup. I am sure someone else will chime in to confirm or deny.

Unfortunately you cannot swap an IRS from any year Mark VIII into a Foxbody....none of the mounting points are the same.

The only possible donors are 1999-2004 Mustang Cobras. Good luck.

I have access to an auto body shop a mechanic and a welder for free. Could it be made to fit with fabricated brackets/mounting points or something similar? I can pick this IRS up for a song.

Unless you plan to back-half the entire rear section of an MN12 floorpan into your SVO then I would say that you have a long, disappointing and EXPENSIVE road ahead of you...which will surely negate any money that you save on the purchase of the Mark VIII IRS.

The Cobra IRS however is nearly a bolt-in affair.
