I told you guys a few weeks ago that 50resto.com has replacemnt ebrake cables for our SVOs. Well... they are the correct length and all but you do have to modify them slighty for them to work.
First, the braket that hooks to the caliper lever is thicker and the stock dowel and pin is not long enough. I used a bolt that i drilled a small hole in and reused the stock pin. Plus the stock dowel is also too thick for the new bracket but since I used a new bolt it wasn't necesary to drill the hole bigger.
Second, the coil spring thats at the end of the cables that are by the caliper (the ones that are trying to release the brake when its applied), well they are too long and a little bit thicker thus they bind when not even applied. What i did was a cut the coil spring a little bit shorter length than the stock one when placed side by side, I did this becuz the new one's spring is thicker and longer so it binds easier.
All in all though these new cables are great and pretty sturdy too. They were about $39 each from 50resto.com and is good to buy as a set so that you can replace em both. Keep one as a spare.
BTW: 50resto also has replacement stock headlights (86 style) about $100 each and inner marker lights too for about $90 each, pretty good huh?
