      My $0.02

Just for everybodies info... There is no real difference between SVO and non SVO K members. My Frankenstein car is set up with the original 90 LX 5.0 K member, steering rack ( 15:1 ), and LX front sway bar. I'm using SVO LCA's, spindles, brakes, Eibach 620's lowering springs, and SVO orange Koni's. I had to modify the shock tower opening to accomodate the SVO onion heads and fab up longer outer tie rod ends. I did dimensional checks between the LX K mem, my 85.5 K mem ( still in car ), and an 84 K mem that was out of the car ( sold at the reunion ). There is no difference between them that I could find and I checked everything 3 times just to make sure. The only thing I found is the spring seat / well on the SVO LCA is deeper than the standard LX which lowered the car about an additional 1/2". It's now slammed in the front ( lowered in the rear / Eibachs also ) with the 225 / 50 / 16 running right at the fender lip with the inner plastic fender liners removed. I have raced it at both Road Atlanta and Talladega Grand Prix and have never had any rubbing or bottoming out. I did break a sway bar end link at Road A. once but that was from jumping the curbing in 10A at about 65 MPH which makes the whole driver's side jump up about a foot. I'm back... Sorry if I got to rambling there... I am work and am bored to DEATH! Also... I'll be doing a SN-95 swap into my new 92 LX coupe body over the next week or so I'll recheck my measurements again...

For those people interested in crossmember dimensions, check out Mustang Performance 2 by William Mathis, page 97 fig. 5-1.

          Don't have that book...

I'd be real interested to see just what dimensions this guy William Mathis says is different for the SVO versus say a 90 LX 5.0 K mem... As I said I checked 3 times and couldn't find any differences. I'm also a kind of obsessive "individual" so if anybody could print / scan these dimensions I'll go down and check... I'm not saying I'm never wrong but I really took my time on the SVO / LX swap. My tolerance on dimensions is the width of a Sanford brand Sharpie Ultra fine point permanent marker. My front end alignment was off by one turn of the outer passenger side tie rod end ( toe in 1/8" ). Not bad for using a plumb bob, bubble level straight edge, square, tape measurer, masking tape, and the aforementioned Sharpie marker. There are several members / directors who have seen my "Frankenstein" car. Please post the dimensions...

            Okay...riddle me this Batman;

What Springs & Shocks should we use on this swap. I understand that the stock Konis will not work, but do we get replacements for the 87-93 or 94+ stangs?

On the spring side, I ask because there may be a difference in the circumference of where the bottom of the spring seats into the SN95 control arm.

I'm getting serious on doing this swap and am getting parts together. I'll try and take some pics and good notes when I finally get around to doing this; probably when it warms up a little more. Thanks!

                shocks

THE STRUTS ARE FOR 87 TO 93. SPRINGS ARE FOR 84 TO 86 SVOS

Okay, that was what I was thinking, saves me a few bucks by not having to change springs. Now I just need to find a good price on Konis.

I'm also trying to decide on which way to go with the brakes. I like the idea of a 13" rotor, but I know that I won't be able to put the stock wheels back on. Decisions, decsions, decisions.

                    Same here...

I'm also looking at springs / struts / wheels for my 92 coupe. I'm using my leftover 90 LX front LCA's with the SN-95 Cobra ( 95 ) spindles / rotors / brakes. I've found Koni's that are supposed to fit the GT but not the Cobra. Not sure why but hope to find out soon. I'm going to try and call the Summit tech line today. I thought the spindles are the same... I'm also having tire / wheel fitment issues but I'm using the 96 Cobra rear and not the SVO.

Out of curiosity, exactly which SN95 LCA's are you guys running? From what I keep reading, the 96+ LCA's are slightly longer than the 94-95 LCAs.

All SN95 arms are the same length...the later SN95 arms have more clearance for the wheels/tires at full lock...

What is different is the spindle itself...the later SN95 spindles will increase the front track about 5 mm per side...the tie rods will be about 1 inch lower (for Modular motor clearance).

Do a search on www.corner-carvers.com and type in SVO SN95 spindles to find out more

                          Plan "B"

I went crazy with the credit card and just bought Maximum Motorsports total grip box. I'm going with their LCA's and coil over Bilsteins front and rear. It should get here today I hope. Looks like I'll be out in the driveway in the freezing rain...

                            Ken,

Don't worry about the rain...some of the parts need a bit of assembly before you need to start out.

You'll be extremely happy with your purchase. I basically have the Maximum Grip box suspension myself save the crossmember.
If you thought an stock SVO was a great handling car, just wait!

Which car is going to get all of the goodies?

It's all going into my new 92 coupe project. I already received the 12 point cage, Painless Wiring harness, battery box, etc. last week. I'm still waiting on the fuel cell. It's also getting the crate engine and Tremec I was going to put into the Frankenstein car. I figured I'd buy all this stuff before my job goes away... The guys at Max.Motorsp. were pretty good to work with on pricing. I already had some of the stuff in spare parts so they worked me out a deal. I'll just sell off the leftovers and anything else I can load up at the Mustang 40th / MCA show in Nashville in April.

Well after weeks of searching I fianlly got my list of parts together to do this. I am picking up some 94/95 LCA's, spindles and hubs for $150 (sounded like a good deal). Then I am installing the Cobra brake package http://www.mustangparts.com/images/c...bracaliper.jpg for $400. Rear Cobra brakes http://www.northcobras.com/catalog/b...5lug.thumb.jpg for $750. I am not sure about wheels but leaning towards 99 Cobras http://www.steeda.com/store/-catalog...9cobrarims.jpg Not sure which struts yet. One question I have is do I need to upgrade the master and booster? Also I've read some have had to install sn95 inner and outer tie rod ends in the Fox rack, is this also necessary?
