  • rear end click click

ok -- I been hearing a clicking sound from the rear-end for a while now --

I put it up on jackstands today, and started it up --
the sound is coming from the passenger side only.

not a good way to explain how this sounds, so I took video
if a pic is wort 1000 words, I guess this is like 1000 paragraphs

    Clicking rearend video

NO -- there is not someone in the background with a hammer

anyone got any thoughts ? I'm afraid a 8.8 swap may come sooner rather than latter now.

the video has been reduced, so it's only about 90k, even you dial up guys should be able to watch it.

Damn that sounds weird. Does it seem to have a pattern with anything such as gets louder/faster with speed or can you hear it if you spin the wheel by hand and does it do it when the wheel reaches a certain spot of rotation? Maybe bearings?

Eric, if that were my car I'd remove the wheel, caliper, brake rotor and run it again on jack stands. It's a right side only noise, so that means if removing the brakes doesn't quiet it down, the wheel bearing is junk. If the noise disappears after pulling the caliper and rotor, you already have the offending part removed from the car to look at.

        That's a excelent idea Pat. .

I just already have a really bad feeling the bearings are toast.

ad much noise as it's making, I bet those are already toast --

that's ok -- something presented itself last night, we'll see how it works out.. A rear-end swap may be in the future anyway.

That's most likely the case. Try that and we can get on to more inportant things. Like what the hell is that in Mike Fleming's Avatar????

I havnen't had a chance to check it with the calipers off -- maybe tomorrow

In the meantime -- we all have no choice but to look at Mike's crack --- and most of us couldn't even figure out what it was til he pointed it out!
