I'm having my trusted mechanic do the complete brake line swap and he say's the connections are so fuzed he may have to make new "hard lines". Is this a normal thing on these old cars? He's got it soaking overnight. This is no big deal to me but I was curious if others had the same problem. All other fixes; Lower control arms, brakes, camber /caster plates, and brakes went fine.

Sounds like BS
Chris, on a car as nice as yours, I doubt the lines have to all be replaced. I have 80s Chevy plow trucks that need new lines and they have to get pretty crispy. A little surface rust is no big deal. If they have 3D texture to them or reduced outside diameters due to scaling. than that's another. I would have a look yourself. The fittings that tighten into the distribution blocks in the wheel wells and on top of the rear end (technical term) and the porportioning valve might have a little surface rust and that's generally no big deal, but when you put a flare wrench on them to loosen and they twist off or round off, then you know you have a problem. Id get a second opinion.86' 2R Original Owner "Project Originale"; 86' 2R "Project Bolo" 84' 9W "Project Bondo"; 86 2R "Project Evil" (GONE!); 90' 5.0 LX Vert; 98 Dodge Neon ACR Track Car; 05 SRT-4 ACR! ---"Real tomato ketchup Eddie?"

Yeah your car is pretty nice to have that. Prolly the soaking will break them free. A GOOD (nice sharp edges to grab) flare nut wrench will help too! I had a Mk VII that I had to to do M/C on. I knew the car sat for a little while before I got it. So for like 3-4 days after I got home from work I reached under and spritzed the bleeders, lines and fittings (just in case) w/ WD or PB. Everything turned out fine.
