If you check out the February Mustang monthly there is a company called DVS restorations that has made a cradle that bolts in to the early mustangs and allows the use of a cobra IRS. It is on page 20. The car runs a 4.6 Cobra motor too. Pretty wicked. If I didn't have so much tied up in the 9 inch nodular rear in my mach one already I would be all over that.

Another IRS to consider, would be the new and upcoming Maximum Motorsports IRS for the 05 mustangs, that is if you can find a way to transplant it into the fox platform

Total Control was also working on an independent rear for 65-66 but I think they have either gone away or are under some kind of restructuring. I already have their manual steering rack and X brace frame / subframe connectors for my 66. I've seen their front shock coil overs , LCA set-up in a few catalogs which may find it's way to my house someday.

What kind of difference does the IRS make in the way your SVO handles? Also how does that affect which autocross class your in? Wouldn't that put you in with other cars that are very modified? I'm a newb to all the autocross rules and such so be gentle.

A good friend of mine, Duane Carling, researched and found the old Ford blueprints for that IRS setup...He also tracked down the original Ford engineer for the project, Klaus Arning, He.....Well read the story for yourself, its VERY interesting.
