  • Koni Shock Selection

Ok, so the story is the rear end of my car is really bouncy, the rear end of my teachers 89 gt with kybs all around is MUCH stiffer. this leads me to think that the shocks are finally shot. Summit lists 5 different koni shocks to fit the rear of an 85 mustang. The Classic Shock KON-80401026 for 85.95, the Sport Shock KON-80411026SPOR for 115.95, another Classic Shock KON-251215 for 102.95, Adjustable Street Shock KON-80401186 for 85.95, and lastly another Adjustable Street Shock KON-87411054 for 175.95. the last one is the one you get when you put SVO in the search. Can somebody please give me some insight on this? i didnt think the rear shocks were special for our cars like the fronts are, but i could be wrong. This car also has eibachs all around. does anybody know the spring rates for the svo eibach springs? thanks for your help guys.

I just let motion dynamics order the right ones for me. The venders here all deal with svo,s daily and can simlplify your ordering process. also a membership would pay for itself on your first purchase I think.
Some one correct me if I'm wrong here but didn't the ealy 85's come with single shocks and the later 85.5's come with dual shocks? That wouild explain your 6 #'s

84 SVO's built prior to December 13, 1983 had two vertical Koni shocks mounted to the rear axle and used slapper bars to control axle hop. 84 SVOs built afterward dispensed with the slapper bars and used 2 vertical Koni shocks with two horizontally mounted Konis ("Quads") instead. All 85-86 SVOs used the Quad setup.

Yes, your membership does pay for itself.. The vendors that I have dealt with on here know SVO's VERY well.. It is nice to deal with someone that knows that your SVO is not a rare 5.0 turbo car that some people have call mine before..
