Here is the latest progress pic so far......I've still got to get the driver's side upper/lower control arm out of the car itself, but this was a big feat here. The old 7.5 is out and the new(er) 8.8 is almost ready to go in. I spent a good 6 hours just trying to break loose the driver's side upper control arm to axle bolt.....after air/heat/cutting, it finally broke in two. Thanks God that part is done......

Well, things have gone A LOT easier since I got the old axle out. The bolts for the remaining control arms broke loose by hand.....help too that I dropped the exhaust. Now its out with some of the old brackets to clean up and paint so they're not all RUSTY!!! I'll post some additional pics once the 8.8 is prepped and ready to go in.

Here we go...let me tell ya, moving a rear axle into place w/o a lift by yourself SUXS!!!!!!! I ended up putting it on my creeper to get into place under the car.
Still waiting on the brakes, but I made some major progress tonight. All new hardware at the mounting locations along with bending new hard lines for the brakes. Installed a set of the Earl's SS lines too......
oh yeah....you can see the power of persuasion in the last pic....Last edited by Mr. Pink; 12-18-2006, 11:56 PM.

I would be more than willing to help ...once you move to Susquehanna. Do you think we can get a Navy base down near the river? Its deep enough here for small boats, rafts and canoes. We all need to be closer.Biz closed till further notice

The SVO covers are indeed nice. I posted the part numbers about a month ago and mention there was a 7.5 on Evil Bay. NO One bid on it so I did and got for $100. Here are the part numbers again. The part number for the cover is M-4033-G for the 8.8 and M-4033-J for the 7.5. These are Motorsport numbers and are called called Axle Girdle Kits. After seeing the axle painted up all nice and black, w/ the cover, I wish I had done that before I put the axle back in!

Go to Harbour Freight and get one of their tranny jacks ($49 to $59).. It works great on trannys, rear axles and gas tanks.. I love it....84 9W
