I have figured out that when Im driving during the day, my brake lights work fine, but at night when I have my lights on, you cannot see when my brake lights come one. I have taken the bulbs out of the tail lenses and with the lights off the brake light filiment in the bulb comes on very bright. If I turn my lights on, the other filiment will light up fine. now, when I have my lights on and I push the brake, both filiments light up as they should, but it doesnt change the brightness at all. Whats going on? I need to get this fixed soon because I dont want to be driving with no brake lights at night, any help would be great! Thanks, Ryan

hmm I took the tail lights off yesterday and wiggled the wires around while I had the brake lights and tail lights on hoping to find an easy ground problem, but I got nothing. I had 2 people on another site mention that it may be a bad turn signal switch....? Anyone know of any reason that may be true?

That EVTM statement must be for a different car:
"The same rear lights are used for stop and turn lights"
The stoplights are red and the turn signal lights are amber. Separate bulbs for each.
Could someone have possibly stuck (crammed in) the 1157 bulbs in 180* out of phase? If so, the stoplamps would be dimmer than the marker lamps. Look for wiring repairs that may have been botched in the past and had the stop and tail lamp wires swapped.Last edited by Pat_in_L.A.; 02-23-2008, 05:02 PM.

Dang, I thought I was making progress Pat!! but you ae right about that. I dont think they were stuck in 180* because I have replaced them myself and had no trouble getting them to go in or come out. I looked at the wires in the back that go to the bulbs and they all look fine. They seem as though they have been untouched
