Can anyone identify the above 2.3 L bellhousing PN: can it be used to replace the "dogboned" SVO bellhousing with a 5.0 L V-8 style clutch cable system? A local Ford dealership parts dept. said the PN is obselete.

Thank you. (the above zc & ea should be capitalized, of course)

the ones i have seen are from 79 4 speed cars. and not sure they fit the T5. heard they bolt right up and heard you had to do a little modifying to make them work. here is a side by side pic I pulled from somewhere off the internet

Yep, the one on the left is what I have......at least from a distance and not
seeing the PN. It would be quite simple if a local had a 2.3 L T-5 to fit up to
my bell, but no go there as of yet hence I'm trying this route.

That bellhousing would have been used with the old German Hummer 4-sp tranny used in the early 80's. I had one in my former 80 4-cyl Mustang. While I did swap an 84 SVO 5-sp into that car I did the wholesale change including the pedals/quadrant, cable, flywheel, clutch, bellhousing and tranny. I never tried to test fit the T-5 into the old bellhousing, but I am quite sure someone else on here has and can shed some light on the subject. I do know that the flywheel/pressure plate thickness on the 4-sp setup was a fair amount thicker than the 5-sp setup, so alignment of the throwout bearing may not work even if the tranny bolt pattern would work.
