  • Towing with a car dolly

Do I need to drop the driveshaft to tow the svo or do I just can leave it in neutral. Can tell if these oil them selves when rolling.

Depends on how far you are going. If you are going less than 50 miles you'll be alright with it in neutral. More than 50 miles, yes the drive shaft will need to be disconnected.

Couldnt you put the rear tires on and let the front tires roll?

When you take that drive shaft out its gonna lose some fluid
      out trans.

My "Low Mile" SVO was towed from Ohio to Carlisle for several years before I bought it and they unbolted the drive shaft from the rear end. Somehow left the drive shaft in the tranns to leave in the fluid. I watched part of it one year when they were loading it up on the dolly.

lol.. Ok so tow it from the rear wheels or get a full size trailer if you dont want to put miles on it.

fair warning, towing an svo with the rear wheels on the dolly is not a lot of fun. the front end likes to sway and dart.

I just towed my 86 2697 miles on a tow dolly, no issues at all. I unhooked the speedo so the miles didn't increase. Just a blow out on the trailer was all that happened..
