  • EEC Tuner

This was on one of the boards so I thought I would post the info here.
    ShiftMaster Inc. is closing! 9/21/08
After 10 years of ShiftMaster's EEC Tuner, it is coming to an end!
Thanks to all EEC Tuner users and folks that developed software that
supported the Tuner! Also thanks to the many folks supporting web site
and mailing lists that had Tuner info. Been fun, challenging, and
sometimes slow learning process on our end. The Tuner was targeted
for unusually clever, do-it-yourself customers :-). You'all had to know
details of your vehicle's engine, and be good with computers!

I, Eric Goehl, am not up to further support/development due to a medical
condition: Multiple Sclerosis (MS) since 2002. MS is an incurable
neurological condition that could effect anything in the Central Nervous
System (Brain and Spinal cord). Vision has been a big problem: Optic
Neuritis and temporary blindness. Balance sucks. Biggest problem was
damage to my mind! After an 8-hour Neuropsychology test I am officially
cognitively impaired and Disabled. My massive Ego lives on though :-)!
This all has caused me serious trouble and I no longer like to drive.

The EEC Tuner was developed as a ROM emulator for the EEC that allowed
the driver to make changes. It was designed to not violate the Ford
copyrights of their ROMs. Made the design, both hardware and software,
more complicated but I did respect copyrights. Addresses with purpose
figured out were supported in Tuner software. Users could make changes
to individual addresses using numeric info they had. This was for users
to be free to learn new EEC info and functions that we did not know.

I owe a special thanks to Tom Cloud for consolidating and publishing
EEC-IV Technical Notes. The EEC Tuner development was dependent on your
document teamed with a Logic Analyzer :-)!!!

The architecture and design were pretty open to the well informed. I
hope EEC Tuner users have enjoyed this as much as I have. Best wishes
    and happy tuning!

Does this means the price went up on my new kit not installed?

Eric is a very humble guy to talk too. He came across pretty cool.

I figured Mikey would be taking this over?
Not me, since I don't even know what IP stands for.

Man. That is sad news. I hope Eric can live the rest of his life as full and comfortable as possible.
