should you release the pressure in the lines before removing the filter?

you should but you will still get fuel dribbling from the lines as you release them from the fuel filter. To relieve pressure, get a pressure gauge with a bleed valve and line, screw it into the schraeder valve and the drain the fuel into a glass jar.
Alternate method is to hold a gar under it and use a small screwdriver to push it in

Like Chalky says, except it's not necessary to pull the fuse. Just don't turn the ignition on while things are apart!Comment
