  • car died last night. alternator??

so last night i was driving back home when the SVO's lights started to go dim and then the car died. I think that this would be the alternator but then today i was trying to jump the car and it won't start then i moved the negative cable and the car started and stayed running after removing the jumper cables the car kept running. so i am now thinking i might be the cable, which is in tough shape. So what do people think. Also is the negative cable SVO specific because i want to change it reguardless.
    Thanks

nope, it's a standard old 48 inch negative battery cable. (unless you have a concourse specific car)

put it on the stud below the power steering pump, and tighten it down good.

Also, check your other grounds... the one from the battery to the sheet-metal, the ones on the core support, the O2 sensor ground on the turbo stud, and most importantly, the one going from the bell-housing to the firewall.
