  • Electronic Speedo (no speedo cable)

'85 SVO w/ stock computer - may go to PE/LA3 in the future.

For those that have installed an aftermarket electronic speedo, what wires off the VSS did you use? Did you tap into the computer or directly into the VSS? I've got the correct VSS, but both wires coming off it are the same color and of course there are no instructions. The instructions for the speedo just say connect to the VSS.

I'm using Ford part# E9TZ-9E731-A (Sensor Asy) and I've got the pigtail from LMRS.

My next question then would be, is there anything I should do with the open end of the sensor asy? Since this speedo is electric, I won't be running a speedo cable.

    Thoughts?

Ok, think I got my answers.

Here is what I'm going with:
    1) Doesn't matter which wire I hook into, connect one to the speedo and ground the other.
    2) Keep the stock cable plugged in, otherwise there will be a leak.

Yup, that is the same thing Autometer told me & just what I did. You can also make a plug for the hole to prevent the leak. I don't have pics, but it ain't hard to do.
